Thiruvananthapuram: When a campaign pitch promises an education without discrimination, the last thing you expect are “faceless” candidates.

This happened at MET Arts and Science College in Nadapuram, where election posters put up by the Federation of Muslim Students (MSF) missed photos of nine female candidates. The poster showed photos of 12 men contesting the student union elections.

In the face of criticism, MSF blamed the candidates, saying it was the women who did not want their photos on the poster.

“We wanted to post pictures of all the girls, but they refused. through the poster. It was their choice, ”said Najmussaquib, member of MSF, advisor to the University Union.

MSF officials said that if they forced the candidates in question to post their photos, the women would withdraw from the elections altogether.

Elections took place on Thursday and MSF won all but one of the council seats.
