Tasmanian Senate hopeful Jacqui Lambie has gone from wooing national reality TV exposure to standing near a roundabout in Devonport with a campaign sign to collect votes. Burnie’s outspoken candidate said she had to wait until the official call of the federal election in May to put up her signs and that without a lot of money to campaign, this was her solution in the meantime. Ms Lambie’s presence at the William Street roundabout appeared to be welcomed by people waving and honking. “It’s the only way for me to get around because we don’t have the money and not a lot of feet on the ground and we’re trying to get as much traffic as possible,” Ms. Lambie said. “We’re just letting people know we’re running for the Senate because people still have a hard time figuring out how to vote… and they’re asking me what part of Tasmania I am in.” We have about three or four days here on the coast, so that’s what I’ll be doing at Burnie in the morning as well. Recently, Ms. Lambie appeared on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here to stay visible.

What we’re proud of is that we don’t buy our seats, we go out there and win them, and that’s the way to do it …
