District 32 second round voting reminders

MERIDIAN, Mississippi (WTOK) – Two candidates are vying for the District 32 seat of the state Senate. The second round will take place on Tuesday 23 November. News 11 has helpful tips on where to vote and what to bring to the polls.

When you go to the polls, you do not need to bring your voter card, but you must have photo ID

Your voter card will show your senatorial constituency in the lower left corner and the one where you vote in state elections in the upper right.

Lauderdale County Circuit Clerk Donna Jill Johnson said the main problem they faced in the Nov. 2 election was that people did not know the location of their constituency.

“We had a lot of voters trying to vote. In fact, if we had had a state and county level turnout in the first one, we would have had an impressive turnout because people were kicking down the compound doors and calling to see if they were moving. So we hope that we will have a good turnout in these 14 ridings. But a special election is so important and a second round too and then we are at the peak of a Thanksgiving week. So we’re just talking to get people to check their calendars and make sure they’re in town, ”said Donna Jill.

If you did not vote in the November 2 election, you still have the right to vote on November 23.

“Over 16,000 eligible registered voters in District 32 and just over 3,000 voted, leaving 13,000 more to run on the 23rd,” Jill said.

The last day to vote by mail is Saturday, November 20.
