Contra Costa Elections offers tips and reminders for voting in the June 7 primary election

The Contra Costa Elections Division would like residents to know that our staff and volunteers are ready for Election Day. Early voting sites will be open starting today, Friday, June 3, and polling stations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, June 7. Voters are encouraged to return their ballots by mail, postmarked on or before Election Day, or drop off their ballot at one of the county’s 37 official drop boxes in order to avoid queues.

“Absentee voting is now the law in California, and it remains the easiest and fastest way to vote and return your ballot.” said Clerk-Registrar Debi Cooper, the county’s top elections official. “All you have to do to vote is mail it back or drop it off at one of our official ballot boxes, located across the county. In-person voting will still be available, and we would like to remind voters that if they vote early, their vote will be included in the initial tally on election night.

In-person services

If you need in-person services to vote, Contra Costa County residents will have early voting options at five regional early voting sites throughout the county starting today, June 3. All registered Contra Costa voters will be able to vote at any of the regional early voting locations, which will be open Friday, June 3 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Monday, June 6. from 11 a.m. at 18 o’clock. These locations also serve as polling stations on Election Day.

The sites are:

  • Brentwood Community Centre, 35 Oak Street, Brentwood
  • Pittsburg Community Library and Hall, 80 Power Ave., Pittsburg
  • Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond
  • San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church, 902 Danville Blvd., Alamo
  • Walnut Creek Town Hall, 1666 North Main Street, Walnut Creek

Polling places

Polling stations will be open on polling day, Tuesday, June 7, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please see the back of your Voter Information Guide for your polling location or visit our website and check “My Voting Information”.

Drive through the depot

Drive-thru drop-off will be available at the Clerk-Recording Officer-Elections Offices on Monday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Election Day, June 7, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Conditional voter registration

If you missed the voter registration deadline, you can still register and vote in person using conditional voter registration. This is a unique opportunity to register and vote and is available at our office at 555 Escobar Street in Martinez, at regional early voting sites, and at all polling stations on Election Day.

Accessible voting equipment and access to an additional language

Official ballots and voting instructions are provided in English, Spanish and Chinese. Voting equipment with accessible features is available at each in-person voting location for voters who may need assistance due to a disability. Additional language resources are available in ballot translation guides that are available online and at in-person voting locations.

It helps to come prepared. Bring your sample ballot or your voter information guide to help you make your choices. Copies are also available at polling stations and information is available online.

Leave the campaign t-shirts, buttons and hats at home

Remember that voters have the right to vote without being intimidated or distracted. Election propaganda, including wearing anything bearing a candidate’s name, is prohibited within 100 feet of any in-person polling location. Anyone wearing election items will be asked to remove or cover them while in the polling place. Please help our poll workers by respecting the non-partisan nature of polling places.
