Representative Bennie Cook has announced his candidacy for re-election to the Missouri House of Representatives. He will appear in the Republican primary ballot on Aug. 2 for the new 143rd House district, which includes Maries, Phelps and Texas counties.
“It was an honor and a privilege to serve as a representative of Texas, Howell, Pulaski and Phelps during my first term,” Cook said. During his first term, he served on the Public Safety, Health and Mental Health, Professional Registration and Licensing, and Joint Disaster Preparedness and Awareness Committees. “I worked on legislation to protect our first responders, reform our welfare system and reduce burdensome regulations.”
“I am proud of the progress we have made in the Chamber this cycle. However, the setback we have suffered from unconstitutional efforts is unacceptable. Please join me in making sure the “red wave” comes right here in Missouri in 2022. Together we can wash away the ridiculous and harmful socialist and Marxist ideologies that are infiltrating our state.
Cook is a 6th generation Missourian with a solid 18-year career in law enforcement. He is currently a Deputy Sheriff with the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.
Cook is an advocate for building our local communities and currently serves on the board of the Texas County Farm Bureau, as president of the Houston Lions Club and is a member of many other organizations. From pantry administrator to director of emergency management, Cook’s practical knowledge of how local governments should work for the people prepared him for his next step at the state Capitol.
“When I first came to Jefferson City, I was amazed at how really out of touch some politicians can be. Every day I work my best to bring common sense values back into the discussion to keep Missouri on track,” Cook said.
Cook’s common-sense conservative values include resisting the abortion industry, defending free speech and gun ownership, and holding government agencies accountable for spending. “I am pro-life and will always fight for the unborn child. Defending innocent lives is the most important thing each of us can do. Likewise, I work every day to protect our rights. against gun-grabbing Biden and the radical left. It’s not their job to tell Missourians what to wear, how to run their business, or when they’re allowed to go to church. Not anymore!”
Representative Cook and his wife, Amanda, live on a small farm in Houston, Missouri. They have five children: Reaghan, Ben, Addison, Isabella and William and attend Oak Hill Christian Church, where Cook is a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Bennie Cook hired Axiom Strategies to serve as consultants on his campaign.
